Before you begin
- In Microsoft Entra ID, register an app for Next Matter and note its Client ID, Client secret, and Tenant ID.
- Grant the app access to the Fabric item’s GraphQL API, and get its GraphQL API URL.
Set up the integration in Next Matter
- In your Next Matter portal, go to Automations library.
- In the Microsoft Fabric app tile, click Connect.
- Enter the following details:
- Client ID
- Client secret
- Tenant ID
- GraphQL API URL
- Click Connect.
Use the integration
- Click Workflows > + Create new… > Create a new workflow and give your workflow a name. If you have a workflow ready, click … > Edit workflow.
- Click + Add step and select Integrations > Microsoft Fabric.
- Click the step and click Configure integration.

In GraphQL Query, enter the query or mutation to run against your Fabric GraphQL API, for example:

(Optional) Turn on Follow Pagination to automatically retrieve every page of a large result set. Your query must include
hasNextPageandendCursorfields, and use a variable namedafterfor the cursor, for example:On very large datasets, following pagination can time out if fetching all pages takes longer than 80 seconds. - Save your changes.
- Select Result as a variable to use the query’s response in later steps, or Original Query to reference the query text you ran.
Use cases
- Bring Fabric data into a workflow - Query a Lakehouse or Warehouse for records (for example, orders, inventory, or finance data) and use the result to populate a form, trigger a step, or route the workflow.
- Push workflow data into Fabric - Run a mutation to write form submissions, approvals, or other workflow output into a Fabric item, keeping your analytics platform up to date without manual exports.
- Sync large datasets - Turn on Follow Pagination to page through a large result set in a single step instead of manually chaining requests.
