# Integrate with Microsoft Fabric

> Run GraphQL queries against Microsoft Fabric to move and work with your data from a Next Matter workflow.

The Microsoft Fabric integration runs GraphQL queries against your Fabric GraphQL API, so you can pull data from a Lakehouse, Warehouse, or other Fabric item into a workflow, or write workflow data back out through a mutation.

## Before you begin

* In Microsoft Entra ID, register an app for Next Matter and note its **Client ID**, **Client secret**, and **Tenant ID**.
* Grant the app access to the Fabric item's GraphQL API, and get its **GraphQL API URL**.

## Set up the integration in Next Matter

1. In your Next Matter portal, go to **Automations library**.
2. In the **Microsoft Fabric** app tile, click **Connect**.
3. Enter the following details:
   * **Client ID**
   * **Client secret**
   * **Tenant ID**
   * **GraphQL API URL**
4. Click **Connect**.

## Use the integration

1. Click **Workflows > + Create new\... > Create a new workflow** and give your workflow a name. If you have a workflow ready, click **... > Edit workflow**.

2. Click **+ Add step** and select **Integrations > Microsoft Fabric**.

3. Click the step and click **Configure integration**.

4. In **GraphQL Query**, enter the query or mutation to run against your Fabric GraphQL API, for example:

   <CodeGroup>
     ```graphql GraphQL theme={null}
     query {
       items {
         id
         name
       }
     }
     ```
   </CodeGroup>

5. (Optional) Turn on **Follow Pagination** to automatically retrieve every page of a large result set. Your query must include `hasNextPage` and `endCursor` fields, and use a variable named `after` for the cursor, for example:

   <CodeGroup>
     ```graphql GraphQL theme={null}
     query($after: String) {
       companies(first: 10, after: $after) {
         items { id }
         hasNextPage
         endCursor
       }
     }
     ```
   </CodeGroup>

   <Info>
     On very large datasets, following pagination can time out if fetching all pages takes longer than 80 seconds.
   </Info>

6. Save your changes.

7. Select **Result** as a variable to use the query's response in later steps, or **Original Query** to reference the query text you ran.

## Use cases

* **Bring Fabric data into a workflow** - Query a Lakehouse or Warehouse for records (for example, orders, inventory, or finance data) and use the result to populate a form, trigger a step, or route the workflow.
* **Push workflow data into Fabric** - Run a mutation to write form submissions, approvals, or other workflow output into a Fabric item, keeping your analytics platform up to date without manual exports.
* **Sync large datasets** - Turn on **Follow Pagination** to page through a large result set in a single step instead of manually chaining requests.
