# Connect to Claude

> Generate text and process images with Claude in a code-free step.

Use a code-free Claude step to generate text from a prompt, optionally search the web, and analyze images.

## Before you begin

* In your Next Matter portal, go to **Automations library**, click **Connect** in the **Claude** app tile, and enter your Anthropic API key.

## Generate text

1. Click **Workflows > + Create new\... > Create a new workflow** and give your workflow a name. If you have a workflow ready, click **... > Edit workflow**.

2. Click **+ Add step** and select **Integrations > Claude**.

3. Click the step and click **Configure integration**.

4. Select **Generates text from a prompt using Anthropic's Claude API** in **Claude action**.

5. Enter the prompt and select the AI model and the output type.

6. (Optional) Turn on **Web search** to let Claude search the web for current information before answering.

7. (Optional) Add file URLs in the **Files** field (PDF, DOCX, TXT, or images) to give Claude extra context.

8. (Optional) If needed, you can tweak the request by providing data in the **Advanced AI configuration** dropdown.

9. Select the output text as a variable you can refer to later on.

10. Save your changes.

## Process images

1. Click **Workflows > + Create new\... > Create a new workflow** and give your workflow a name. If you have a workflow ready, click **... > Edit workflow**.

2. Click **+ Add step** and select **Integrations > Claude**.

3. Click the step and click **Configure integration**.

4. Select **Process images with Claude (Anthropic)** in **Claude action**.

5. Enter the prompt and select the AI model and the output type.

6. Add the image URLs you want Claude to analyze in the **Images** field.

7. (Optional) If needed, you can tweak the request by providing data in the **Advanced AI configuration** dropdown.

8. Select the output text as a variable you can refer to later on.

9. Save your changes.
